About the Artist

Dan was born and raised in his beloved hometown of Chicago, particularly in the Lincoln Park area. Growing up in a big city gave him a great appreciation for the things that city life has to offer: architecture, cultural diversity, exposure to the Arts, the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
He earned a degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Design, from the University of Illinois at Chicago. His studies included fine art, graphic design and photography and during his time at the university he bought his first 35mm camera, which proved invaluable for his art and design classes.
After many years of shooting film he, reluctantly, made the transition to digital photography and has found it to be personally rewarding. With more than 30 years of experience under his belt he has used film and digital photography to create original art. He derives satisfaction working in the abstract genre because it affords him unlimited freedom to express himself. Light and shadow, vivid color and illusion of depth are all part of his repertoire as an evolving artist.
